Eventhough, it'll be some months away and the next school-year, the Rams have announced their 2009-2010 school-year Football Schedule. The Rams had a strong finish last season and will be looking forward to improve on the 7-5 record from a year ago. This year they will enter a new conference, which is actually an old conference. That will possibly be the Southeastern Conf. The Rams will once again play atleast 8 of the 11 teams that they've played in the past. EE Smith(0-11) and Pine Forest(5-7) of the current Two Rivers will continue to compete against the Rams on the non-conf. schedule. Wilmington Ashley(3-8) and St.Pauls(3-7) has decided to stay on as well. The new comers will be South Robeson(1-9) and Red Springs(5-7). Pinecrest(7-5) will be part of the new conf. but the Rams have played them in the past. Scotland(2-9)
Richmond(12-4),Hoke(4-7), and Lumberton(9-4) are also part of the new conf. plus they were on the past schedule. The Rams will open @ EE Smith a team that they beat easily. Then the next week vs St.Pauls a good opponent in the home opener. The Rams will travel then to South Robeson, a former opponent. Then back home to play Red Springs for the first time ever. The Red Devils were a playoffs contender last season. Next will be yet another home game vs Pine Forest. The Rams set the school football scoring record(56pts) against the Trojans last season but broke it when they played Cape Fear (63pts). The Rams will then travel to Wilmington Ashley again this year to take on a tough Eagles' team. This will finished up the non-conference opponents and the following week will be an open date before SEC play. The Rams will start out taking on Scotland, a team in which the Rams defeated last season, but should be much improved. Then it's on the road to Rockingham to take on the State 4AA Champs, Richmond. Afterwards they will travel to Pinecrest to play the Patriots whom turned their program around. Then back home for the last two games to avenge losses aganist Hoke and Lumberton. They will be facing 5 teams that were in the state playoffs. It should be an exciting season with alot of returning starters and the Rams will be getting help from the JV team that finished (5-5).

It was a cold and wet night but over 200 people braved the weather to attend the 2nd Annual Grid Iron Missions Banquet, which was held at Purnell Swett High School on March 14th 2009.
After opening remarks by Coach Mark Heil, a buffet meal was provided by Fuller’s Restaurant in Lumberton. After the meal Mr. Willie Brooks, spokesperson for HealthKeeperz Pharmacy presented student athlete bibles to the football players. (God’s Game Plan) He suggested that a verse be posted in the weight room each week and that the players memorize that verse.
Dr. Timmy Chavis of Bear Swamp Baptist Church delivered the message. He talked about fearing God, having good attitudes and respect. If we fear God, then we will have respect for our coaches, teachers and principals stated Chavis. He also encouraged them to read the bibles they had been presented and to stay away from others who cause trouble. He shared his own story about hanging out with the wrong people in high school and it causing him to stray away from school. He now has a doctorate but told them that it could have came 10 years earlier if he would have made wiser decisions.
It was a good event. The players left with a full stomach, a bible, and a good message to dwell on. Let us continue to support our young players because they are the future.
We would like to Thank the Churches who sponsored the event and Healthkeeperz for providing the Bibles.
